Turkey to Increase Residence Permit Fees for Foreigners

Turkey is getting ready to raise the fees for issuing and renewing residence permits for foreigners in 2026, especially for long-term permits.

The government had previously fixed the residence card fee at around 964 Turkish lira for all applicants, as a standard charge paid when issuing or renewing a permit.

As for the taxes related to residence permits, information indicates that the fee could reach up to 3,359.90 Turkish lira for the first month, followed by about 2,232.30 lira for each additional month, depending on the type and duration of the permit.

Based on these figures, the total cost of obtaining a two-year residence permit could reach around 55,000 Turkish lira per person. This includes government fees, monthly taxes for 24 months, and the residence card cost.

Exemptions

On the other hand, reports suggest that tax exemptions will continue for certain nationalities, who will only need to pay the residence card fee without the monthly tax.

The exempted countries include: Syria, Palestine, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Ireland, Kosovo, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Turkmenistan, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Exemptions also apply to certain groups داخل Turkey, including students officially enrolled in schools and universities, as well as those holding permanent residence permits.
