Montenegro Introduces Visa Requirement for Turkish Passport Holders
Turkish Airlines has announced that Turkish citizens will need a visa to enter Montenegro starting November 1, 2026.
The change follows a decision by the Balkan country to align its visa policy with the European Union’s visa system.
Turkish citizens will no longer be able to enter Montenegro using only their regular burgundy-colored passports. Travelers will need to have either a valid national visa issued by Montenegro or an active Schengen visa.
Holders of special passports, including green and grey passports, are advised to check the latest travel requirements through official channels, as the rules applying to these passport categories have not yet been clearly confirmed in reports.
Meanwhile, Turkish Airlines (THY) has warned passengers that anyone who does not have the required visa will not be allowed to board their flight. The airline also said that visa checks at airports will be stricter before departure.
The company added that travelers of other nationalities may be subject to different entry requirements. It urged all passengers to check the official Montenegrin authorities' websites well ahead of their departure to avoid delays or problems during their journey
