Tourism revenue in Türkiye reached $8.7 billion during the first quarter of 2024, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute.
The institute clarified that revenue increased by 5.4% in the first quarter of 2024, covering the months of January, February, and March, compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
Data indicated that 21% of tourism revenue in the first quarter of the current year was generated from visits by Turkish citizens residing abroad.
It was noted that 46% of foreign visitors came to Turkey for trips and recreational, sports, and cultural activities, while 13.3% visited to see relatives and friends, and 9.6% for shopping.
Revenue jumped in 2023 by 17% from the previous year to a record level of $54.32 billion, as the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic diminished.
