The Turkish government has announced that foreign residents in the country can benefit from government support programs for electricity bills, provided they meet a few simple regulatory requirements.
The government said the move aims to ease the cost of living and improve the financial stability of residents.
According to the government statement, the first requirement for benefiting from the support is having a valid residence permit for at least one year.
Alternatively, applicants can hold a Temporary Protection Identity Card, provided that the address registered on the electricity subscription matches their actual residential address officially registered with the relevant authorities.
The Turkish government covers up to 80% of the electricity bill for the first consumption bracket, which applies to monthly consumption of up to 150 kilowatt-hours (kWh).
If consumption exceeds this limit, the additional amount is charged according to the standard electricity tariff.
