The Turkish government has conducted a nationwide survey titled “Citizen Satisfaction and Perception of Safety”, identifying the provinces considered the safest and most stable across the country.
The results were based on residents’ evaluations of security, public order, and overall safety in the cities where they live.
According to the official survey, the city of Rize, often described as the shining pearl of Turkey’s Black Sea coast, ranked first as the safest city in the country, achieving a record level of public confidence.
The survey found that 88.4% of Rize residents reported feeling completely safe in their city.
The study also revealed very close safety and confidence ratings among the cities that secured the top five positions. The rankings were as follows:
Rize – 88.4% (1st place)
Afyonkarahisar – 87.2% (the highest-ranked city in the Aegean region)
Bayburt – 86.0%
Artvin – 84.7%
Çanakkale – 84.1%
Security experts and sociologists involved in analyzing the results attributed the success of these cities to several clear demographic and social factors.
These provinces are characterized by relatively low population density and lower migration rates compared to Turkey’s major metropolitan areas, helping to strengthen community ties and social cohesion.
The Black Sea region stood out in particular for its success in maintaining public order and social stability, with three of its cities—Rize, Bayburt, and Artvin—earning places in the top five. This reflects a high level of long-term security and social stability across the region.
