The Turkish Ministry of Health Launches a Campaign to Promote the Rational Use of Antibiotics

On the occasion of Antimicrobial Awareness Week and Antibiotic Resistance Week, the Turkish Ministry of Health emphasized that the proper use of antibiotics means taking them only with a medical prescription and strictly following the dose and duration determined by the physician.

The Ministry warned that the incorrect or unnecessary use of antibiotics leads to:

• The development of bacterial resistance to these medications

• Increased difficulty in treating diseases in the future

• The emergence of serious health problems that were previously treatable

The Ministry stressed the importance of raising public awareness to prevent the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
