Ankara Chosen as the Tourism Capital of the Turkic World for 2026
Kürşad Zorlu, Deputy Chairman of the AK Party, announced that Ankara has been selected as the tourism capital of the Turkic world for the year 2026.
Zorlu, who's in charge of relations with Turkic countries, thanked Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, as well as the tourism ministers of the Turkic states and Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States.
In a post on social media, Zorlu said:
"Now it's time for us to start working together on projects and events that will boost Ankara’s role in the tourism sector in 2026. We’ll be sharing more details soon. Congrats to Ankara!"
This decision marks an important step in highlighting the Turkish capital as a major tourist destination in the Turkic world. The city is expected to host major cultural and tourism-related events throughout 2026.
