The Good Ship" Qatar-Turkish heading towards Gaza
On Wednesday, the Qatar-Turkish vessel "The Good Ship" departed from the Turkish port of Mersin carrying humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The Qatari embassy in Ankara stated that "The Good Ship" represents the beginning of cooperation between Qatar and Turkey in the field of humanitarian relief. This step comes as part of joint efforts to support the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The embassy clarified that the ship set sail thanks to the intensive efforts of the Qatar Development Fund, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), in cooperation with the Turkish Red Crescent.
The ship carries about 1,908 tons of urgent humanitarian aid, including food baskets, personal hygiene supplies, shelter materials, and other essential needs.
The Qatar Development Fund contributed approximately 1,358 tons of aid, while AFAD contributed 550 tons.
It is planned that the ship will reach the Egyptian port of El-Arish, the closest point to Gaza, after about 40 hours from its departure. It will then enter the Gaza Strip through available land routes, according to the embassy.
