Air Canada and Pegasus Airlines have signed a new interline agreement to expand air connections between North America and Turkey through several major European airports.
This move reflects the big shifts happening in global aviation in 2026. The new partnership between Air Canada and Pegasus Airlines will make it easier for travelers to fly between North America and Turkey.
The deal is an “interline” agreement. That means passengers can buy one single ticket covering the whole journey — from Canada or the United States to Europe on Air Canada, then continuing to Turkey on Pegasus Airlines. Luggage will be checked all the way through to the final destination.
The main benefits of this type of agreement are:
-
Easier booking for connecting flights
-
Fewer procedures at transit airports
-
Boarding passes issued all the way to the final destination
-
A smoother overall travel experience for international passengers
This kind of partnership is usually a first step that could later lead to a bigger agreement, such as a codeshare deal.
The announcement comes at a time when the global aviation sector is recovering quickly, with strong growth in travel demand between Europe and the Middle East.
The European connection hubs included in the agreement are:
Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich, Copenhagen, Vienna, Geneva, Zurich, and Athens.
From these cities, Pegasus Airlines will operate flights to:
-
Istanbul (Sabiha Gökçen International Airport)
-
Izmir (Adnan Menderes International Airport)
Istanbul is one of the world’s most important air travel hubs, linking Europe and Asia, and serving more than 90 million passengers annually across its airports.
Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in particular has seen strong growth in low-cost airline traffic, making it a strategic base for Pegasus Airlines’ expansion.
Tourism sector data also shows that the number of foreign visitors to Turkey increased in 2025, with growth expected to continue into 2026.
