The reasons behind the fall of the Antalya cable car revealed
Preliminary security investigations have revealed the reasons behind the fall of the cable car in the Konyaaltı area of Antalya province in Turkey on the third day of Eid al-Fitr, which resulted in the death of one person and the injury of 18 others.
According to initial reports issued by experts, the cause of the accident can be attributed to the insufficient fastening tools at the points connecting the cable car poles, in addition to their corrosion, which led to the collapse of the pole and the fracture of the cabin's base.
Rescue efforts, which lasted for 23 hours, resulted in the rescue of all those stranded in the air without further injuries occurring.
At the same time, the security authorities in the Konyaaltı area of Antalya managed to arrest 12 individuals suspected of involvement in the accident.
Arrest warrants were issued for 13 suspects, including the deputy general manager of Anet A.Ş company and the engineers and technicians responsible for maintaining the cable car.
Meanwhile, Turkish media sources revealed that the mayor of the Kepez area, Mr. Masoud Kojağoğuz, along with five others, was arrested on charges of negligence contributing to the cable car accident.
The suspects were transferred to court after completing the necessary procedures at the police station.
Further investigations are expected to continue to determine more details about the accident's causes and to identify individual responsibilities in this matter.
Authorities have pledged to take necessary measures to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future and to ensure the safety of citizens and visitors alike.
