Turkish Postal and Telecom Company Warns Citizens About Scam Messages

Turkey’s Postal and Telegraph Corporation (PTT) has warned citizens about a growing number of scam messages impersonating the company or the National Electronic Notification System (UETS), in an attempt to trick users and steal their personal information.

In a statement, the company said the scam messages appear to have been sent on behalf of PTT or the UETS system. It stressed that it will never ask users for their passwords, verification codes, banking information, or payment details.

PTT urged citizens to be extra careful when dealing with suspicious messages and to follow these guidelines:

• Do not click on any links included in suspicious messages.
• Do not open files or attachments sent through untrusted messages.
• Do not share personal information with third parties.
• Do not enter passwords, verification codes, or banking details in response to a request received through a suspicious message.

The company stressed that UETS electronic notifications should only be checked through the official UETS online portal, the UETS mobile app, or Turkey’s e-Government (e-Devlet) portal.

PTT also said that if users receive a message or encounter any activity they suspect may be fraudulent, they should contact the company directly to verify it rather than interacting with any links or files included in the message.
