Starting from April 29... Shutting down Threads platform in Turkey
Meta Platforms company announced on Monday the temporary shutdown of the Threads social media platform in Turkey, in compliance with a temporary order from the Turkish Competition Authority.
The company stated in a post that there will be no impact on its other social media platforms and services in Turkey, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
Meta added, 'We do not agree with the temporary order, and we consider ourselves compliant with all Turkish legal requirements, and we will appeal the decision,' as reported by AFP.
Last March, the Turkish Competition Authority deemed the data exchange between the Threads platform and its affiliated Instagram network as 'harmful.'
The Turkish Competition Authority temporarily imposed measures on Meta, the parent company of Facebook, to prevent data exchange between Instagram and Threads platforms while investigating the possibility of the company's misuse of its dominant market position."
